Parkville Man Regrets Threatening Governor
PARKVILLE, Md. (WJZ) ―
The Baltimore County man accused of threatening to kill Governor Martin O'Malley is telling his side of the story.
Walter Abbott says he's sorry for threatening Governor Martin O'Malley.
Kai Jackson reports the Parkville man says he's not sorry about his feelings on the issue of illegal immigration which led to his threat.
Walter Abbott now regrets e-mailing Governor Martin O'Malley on March 18. In the e-mail, Abbott says he could strangle him and called him an American sellout.

Those words were both strong and illegal. It's against the law to threaten anyone, including a public official.
"I was just upset because you can never get a reply from anybody," he said.
Abbott, 44, has worked in construction for years hanging drywall. He and his wife, Linda, believe illegal immigrants are responsible for taking the work he used to get. They say when things dried up for them in the 1990s, they lost their company, house and more.
Police arrested Abbott, but his wife said the fact that he included his name, address and phone number is proof he wasn't planning to harm the governor.
A judge, however, still put Abbott on home detention.
"He lashed out with words. That's all he did," Linda Abbott said.
His trial date is pending.
