Baltimore's City Hall Evacuated After Fan Problem

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Baltimore's City Hall was evacuated Tuesday morning after smoke was detected in the building.

According to Kevin Cartwright with the Baltimore City Fire Department, there was a fan unit on top of City Hall that overheated.

Cartwright says the smoke that was created from the fan overheating was pulled back into the building.

"We had units respond to this incident and upon arrival there was nothing showing at the time.  Units went inside and found a light haze of smoke of smoke floating between the fourth and sixth floor," said Capt Roman Clark with Baltimore City Fire.

Peggy Lee reports the building was evacuated for about an hour.  Employees were allowed back in after it was aired out.

One woman suffered an ankle injury after a door closed on her foot.  She was transported to Mercy.
