A fund to put $50 millionĀ a year toward Chesapeake Bay cleanup is due for a vote Friday in the Maryland House.
The Environmental Matters committee is scheduled to take up the fund, which is smaller than originally proposed. House members have decided to ratchet back their plans for the fund after senators said they wouldn't accept the proposed fee on development.
The new fund would be used for agriculture and local parks, among other things. If approved, the fund would still need to clear the full House and the Senate. The Senate has approved the money for the fund, but not the details of how it would work.
