Casino Companies Eye Rocky Gap Lodge Purchase
FLINTSTONE, Md. (AP) ―
A board member of the Maryland Economic Development Corporation says two casino operators have expressed interest in buying western Maryland's Rocky Gap lodge if slot machines are approved there.
Barbara Buehl, who is also president of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce, says whoever runs the prospective slots operation may want to control the hotel as well.
MEDCO Executive Director Robert Brennan says there have been no serious offers at this point.
The O'Malley administration has designated the resort inside Rocky Gap State Park as one of five prospective locations for slots if Maryland voters approve slot-machine gambling in November.
