Arson Destroys Building At Former Campground
NORTH EAST, Md. (AP) ―
Maryland fire investigators say a vacant building at the former Nazarene Camp near North East burned to the ground in the sixth arson at the defunct campground in as many months.
Deputy State Fire Marshal Joseph Zurolo says the two-story wood-frame hotel-like building was fully involved when firefighters arrived Sunday. It took firefighters about an hour to control the blaze.
The 60-acre property off Route 272 was a popular site for church-based summer camps, family vacations and related gatherings or more than 90 years and was sold to a developer in 2006.
