Plane Violates Camp David Airspace
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) ―
The Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Secret Service say a plane violated the airspace around Camp David.
An FAA official says the incident occurred about 1:20 p.m. on Monday, but Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan says it happened around noon.
FAA spokesman Jim Peters tells The Frederick News-Post a Piper aircraft traveling from Panama City, Fla. went two-and-a-half miles inside the restricted area.
Donovan says the pilot cooperated with the Secret Service, and he says the incident does not have a "protective component."
Neither he nor the FAA would identify the pilot.
Donovan added that President Bush was not at Camp David during the incident.
