4-Alarm Cambridge Fire Destroys Historic Building

CAMBRIDGE, Md. (AP) ―

Another historic building has been destroyed by flames in downtown Cambridge.

Deputy state fire marshals say a building dating to 1790 burned down in a four-alarm blaze early Saturday morning.

The two-and-a-half-story building was originally a home but had been converted into offices.

Deputy state fire marshal Joseph Zurolo says the structure was most recently a law office, but it has been vacant for the past five years. It had been up for sale for two years.

Investigators are trying to determine what sparked the flames.

No adjacent buildings were damaged, and no one was injured.

The building is at 202 High Street, a several blocks away from where two antique stores were destroyed and several other buildings were damaged in a fire in January.
