Police: Records Show Calls To Witness, Accused

BALTIMORE (AP) ― A Baltimore County police detective says records show the man accused of arranging a murder witness' killing called the victim just before the shooting and the man who ordered the killing minutes after.

Detective Gary Ruby testified Wednesday in federal court in Baltimore that records from Marcus Pearson's cell phone show a call to Carl Lackl about 10 minutes before Lackl was killed in 2007.

Ruby says two minutes after 17-year-old Jonathan "Brazy" Cornish shot Lackl three times, Pearson was on the phone again with Patrick Byers and his co-defendant, Frank Goodman.

Byers is charged with Lackl's murder after allegedly ordering the hit while in jail. Lackl was a witness against Byers in another murder case.
