Amid all the crowds and speeches of election night, a much smaller ceremony was tucked away at BWI-Thurgood Marshall Airport.
As
Alex DeMetrick reports, it was a tribute to the people who help make elections possible.
A Color Guard isn't a normal sight at BWI-Thurgood Marshall, but men and women in uniform are. Up to 10,000 a month pass through and many wait between flights at the airport's USO Lounge.
There was a first-class salute Wednesday, as the USO honored not only servicemen, but their families and veterans.
"It just makes you feel good that when you're passing through, there's somebody to wave thanks and say hi and support you in some way," said Sgt. Glen Sutphin.
In its 60 years of service, the USO has never received tax dollars. It supports itself through fundraisers and donations.
