WJZ Viewers Weigh In On Brian Billick

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Although I believe it was time for a change, I appreciate and thank Coach Billick for the success of our team. I wish him and his family well. Note: His sandwich is pretty good too - Keep it! -- S M

"I think he received a raw deal.  It takes everyone on the team plus the coach to make a good team, a winning team. One person doesn't make or break a team. The team needs to learn to play as a team." -- Viewer

"Brian Billick did no wrong.  His players [need] to start playing as professionals." -- Veronica Hall

"Brian should have been fired years ago.  Evidently he thinks he is better than everyone.  Fact is, he was a lousy coach!  One of the worst in coaching.  He walked into the Super Bowl.  Never held the players' feet to the fire in practice always tried to be Mr. Nice Guy.  This team will be much better without him.  As for him staying in Maryland, who cares!  Just another millionaire.  Hmmm...maybe he should stay so Maryland can tax him to death too."  -- Linda Geisler

"I think it was ultimately the right thing to do. Brian Billick seemed to lose the ability to coach his team. He had continually throughout the past few years, make bad play calls in critical situations and seemed to lose the respect of his players.  All things must come to an end. One thing I still don't understand about the Ravens organization is why they have hired Cam who had 1 win against The Ravens the entire season as our O.C.? Why can't owners in Baltimore sports get young talented players that can be groomed into champions instead of getting old has-beens and trying to resurrect their careers?  Are we the sports retirement community here in Baltimore?" -- Robert Smith

"As an old Colt fan and a new reborn 1996 Ravens fan, I'd like to thank the man for the wins and the fun of having a winning team again in Baltimore.  I'm glad to hear he's making Maryland his home base and wish him and his family all the best.  Again, thanks." -- Gary Lowman

"Mr. Brian Billick is a fine man and coach.  I feel he lost focus and the desire to get back to the top after he won the Super Bowl.  It is unfortunate that he allowed his judgment to be shaded over and lost the clear picture of the task at hand. Many prominent people in the coaching world have slipped down the same path. Personal friendships that swayed his opinion that Brian had to live with. Personal relationships with players become too close and clouded his judgement to be impartial. Too concerned with his own public image.  The lack of focus to put a team on the field that was confident in themselves AS A TEAM to win.  It is important for any professional team to understand and never forget that the average FAN wants his/her team to win the championship and no less. Trying to convince Ravens fans that a few wins is good enough will only get you a ticket to your next team or job destination.  Good luck to you Mr. Billick.  Thanks for the Super Bowl title. We will never forget.  I wish you all the best." --Tony Funkhouser

"Mr. Billick has been let go from his coaching position with the Ravens. The Ravens have hired a new coach. It's time for EVERYONE to move on. I am sure Mr. Billick will find another position elsewhere."  -- Jeanne Wade
