Death Of Man Found In Burning Car Probed

BRANDYWINE, Md. (AP) ― Prince George's County authorities are investigating the death of a man found in a burning car in Brandywine.

Firefighters and paramedics responded to a report of a vehicle fire with a person still inside the vehicle around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 14300-block of South Springfield Road.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says bystanders were able to pull the unconscious man from the burning vehicle.

When they found that the man had no pulse and was not breathing, they began CPR. Brady says the man was taken to Southern Maryland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

County fire investigators and police are investigating the man's death. Brady says the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of his death and identity.
