Md. Boaters Hurt By Flying Motor After Boat Crash

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. (AP) ―

Two boaters were hospitalized after their boat hit an underwater object, causing an outboard motor to break free and hit one man.

Maryland Natural Resources Police say Walter Ross, 52, of Havre de Grace was driving the 21-foot bass boat on the Susquehanna Sunday afternoon and was struck by the motor. Police say Willie Barrett was ejected.

After the accident, Ross was able to call for help using his cell phone.

Police say Barrett, 44, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore while Ross was taken to Bayview Hospital.
