92Q's "Big Phat Morning Show" has been canceled from the air.
Bad news for fans of one of Baltimore's most popular morning radio shows.
Derek Valcourt reports a move to save money will eliminate a fan favorite over at 92Q.
The last time you heard 92Q's "Big Phat Morning Show" was the last time you heard it.
Radio One, the company that owns Baltimore's most popular hip-hop and R&B station, announced Thursday they were letting go morning DJ Marc Clarke.
They're canceling his show and replacing it with a syndicated show. The news is a bummer to some of the station's biggest fans.
"I think it's really, really ridiculous because I really love that guy," said a listener.
"That's what people need in the morning, especially when they're just waking up, is good old laughter about the Ravens game or something that took place in entertainment," said a fan. "It's entertaining you know, driving to the school listening to the music."
Every one of the disappointed radio listeners asked the same question: what for?
General Manager Howard Mazer says the change was a corporate decision. It's part of cost-cutting measures designed to save the station bucks. Fans think it's a bad move.
"I have no idea why they would do that, especially because he is so popular. He's kind of like a staple. For somebody to up and get rid of him, it makes no sense," said a listener.
Marc Clarke's last show was Thursday morning. The show will be replaced by Radio One's nationally syndicated show "Rickie Smiley Radio" starting next week.
