Harford Co. Inmate Hit By Taser Later Dies
BEL AIR, Md. (AP) ―
Harford County authorities are investigating the death of an inmate at the county detention center.
The county sheriff's office says Dwight Madison, 48, was arrested Thursday for trespassing in Bel Air. Officials say he became uncooperative on Friday when deputies tried to fingerprint him, fighting with two correctional deputies and one civilian employee.
Officials say Madison grabbed and choked one of the deputies. A third deputy came, and authorities warned the inmate that they had a Taser gun. When he continue to be combative, officials say they deployed the Taser, striking Madison in the upper leg. He fell, striking his head on the floor.
Madison died Saturday at a hospital. One of the deputes was treated for minor injuries.
