As
Mike Schuh reports, protesters also had their voices heard here in Baltimore.
Organizers say this dark and stormy day is totally appropriate because it mirrors the economy and their mood.
"You know, it's raining but we're not going to stop," said Sharon Black.
They call themselves "Bail Out the People." It's one of several groups which hit the streets this weekend across the country.
"We support the agenda for a national moratorium on foreclosures and evictions," said union organizer Andre Powell.
Their top goals: an emergency moratorium on home foreclosures and evictions, no layoffs and an extension of unemployment benefits, no utility shut-offs and protecting public and private pensions.
"Nothing at all is being done for the ordinary person in our community," Black said.
Their protest was in front of the Baltimore branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. Half as many media showed up as protesters, but Black defends the meager turnout.
"We are grassroots," she said.
The organizers couldn't say when they would begin collecting signatures.
