Murder Suspect Freed On Bail Is Charged Again

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

A Baltimore man who was granted bail after he was charged with first-degree murder has been charged in a second shooting.

Demetrius Smith, 25, was arrested Sunday in the robbery and shooting that wounded Clyde Hendricks, 56, in the 400-block of Parrish Street. Smith had been charged in July in a March shooting that killed Robert Long in the 400-block of South Stricker Street.

Although suspects in first-degree murder are typically held without bond, District Judge Nathan Braverman last month set Smith's bail at $350,000. Smith posted bond the next day and was released.

Braverman could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
