Ill Mid Transferred To UM Medical Center

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) ― The Naval Academy says a midshipman being treated for a possible case of bacterial meningitis has been transferred to another hospital.

An academy spokesman says that the 20-year-old freshman was taken by ambulance to Baltimore Washington Medical Center Wednesday.

Friday night, he was transferred to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

The spokesman says medical tests for the cause of his illness are still pending.

Neither the midshipman's identity nor his condition are being released.
