America's First Female In Space To Visit Baltimore

BALTIMORE (AP) ―

Sally Ride, America's first female astronaut to fly in space, is scheduled to be in Baltimore on Monday.

Ride will appear with Sen. Barbara Mikulski at the Maryland Science Center, which is holding a camp for girls ages 11 to 13.

Ride is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of her launch into space with a conference at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Ride rode into orbit aboard the space shuttle in 1983, 20 years after Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova became the first woman in space.
