Man Charged With Arson After Fire In His Apartment

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) ― A man who fought rescue attempts during a fire has been charged with arson.

Roy Sisk II, 35, is charged with first-degree arson, obstructing firefighters and other offenses.

Sisk was being in lieu of $200,000 bond Thursday at the Washington County Detention Center.

A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 29 in Washington County District Court.

According to court documents, the fire was reported about 7 p.m. Wednesday in Sisk's apartment in the 100-block of Potomac Street.

The documents say when a firefighter put a ladder to the window and
began to climb it, Sisk grabbed the ladder and tried to push it over with the firefighter still on it.

Hagerstown Fire Marshal Douglas DeHaven also wrote in charging
documents that another firefighter forced his way into Sisk's locked apartment and tried to lead Sisk out.

Sisk repeatedly kicked the firefighter.

Firefighters eventually got Sisk out of the apartment.
