Hundreds Attend Alibi Breakfast

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

Preakness week is in full bloom. Hundreds gathered at "Old Hilltop" Thursday morning for the annual Alibi Breakfast.

Ron Matz reports on the racing tradition, which includes food, fun and some Preakness prognostications.

There were lights, cameras and plenty of action at the Alibi Breakfast.  A little divine intervention may help on Saturday.

"We're praying for good weather and a peaceful and happy day for everyone. We'll be watching the race," said Sister Dorothy and Sister Pauline of the Little Sisters of The Poor.

It's a media madhouse. Trainers, owners, and others gather over the big buffet to make their Preakness prognostications.

Maybe it's sweet Georgia Big Brown.  The Derby winner is the odds on favorite to paint the town at Pimlico.

Miss Preakness is having a busy day.

"I enjoy being Miss Preakness very much. These events are very exciting and I'm looking forward to Preakness Day," said Maggie Wolfendale, Miss Preakness.

The Woodlawn vase is presented to the owners of the winning Preakness horse. It was designed by Tiffany and Co. It's the most valuable trophy in American sports, valued at $1 million.
