Over the summer, WJZ teamed up with The Orioles to raise money for the Maryland Food Bank, as part of our continuing community commitment, our viewers and O's fans donated 4,000 pounds of food and $31,000 in cash.
Now, at the Grace AME Church in Catonsville, those donations are going to the people who need them most, just in time for Thanksgiving.
"Before we've only been able to do it a small magnitude, but since hooking up with The Maryland Food Bank, thank goodness for The Orioles we've been able to distribute 125 baskets this year," says Vivian Watson.
Baltimore Orioles, Nick Markakis lent a helping a hand loading up boxes of food for delivery before Thursday.
"I think it's good for The Orioles, wives and players to get involved in the community and help out and it's always a good feeling to do things on the field and off the field as well, and help out any way you can," he said.
Markakis also formed The Right Side Foundation earlier this year to help distressed children in the state of Maryland.
