Unlisted Numbers Published In Washington Co. Book

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) ―

Verizon is apologizing for the accidental publication of nearly 13,000 unlisted numbers in the Washington County telephone directory.

The company says the numbers were published after Verizon inadvertently sold the information to the publisher, Ogden Directories.

Verizon is promising to change the numbers at no charge and will for one-year reimburse customers for the monthly cost of having an unlisted number.

Washington County Sheriff Douglas Mullendore says some of his deputies have unlisted numbers for safety reasons and have called Verizon to complain about the accidental publication of the numbers.
