In his sit-down interview with Don and Marty, Tyler Perry discussed his film career and his return to Baltimore.
Mix in an all-star cast, two families in conflict and a director who seems to have the movie-making Midas' touch, and you've got Tyler Perry's latest film, "The Family That Preys."
Kai Jackson has more.
In his sit-down interview with the Morning Show's Don and Marty, Tyler Perry discussed his film career and his return to Baltimore.
"Great town for me. I played here all the time from The Lyric Opera House to Morgan State," said Perry. "We played sold-out crowds for years before I even did a film."
Even with a successful film career, Perry is still working on his stage plays where he got his start. His current show on tour, "The Marriage Counselor," is also coming to Baltimore.
Perry's films and plays are hits with audiences because they focus on stories and family rather than formula.
"People are tired of drugs, violence and guns. I think people want good family entertainment. That's what I try to do and I've been very, very fortunate it's worked so far."
Perry's most known character, grandmother Madea, has helped make him millions. She returns in February in the film "Madea Goes to Jail."
Look for Tyler Perry's "The Family That Preys" in theaters. It stars Alfre Woodard, Sanaa Lathan and Oscar winner Kathy Bates.
