Talbot County Planners Pave Way For Wind Power
TALBOT, Md. (AP) ―
Planners in Talbot County want to make it feasible for residents to use wind turbines to power their houses or farms.
The Talbot County Planning Commission has voted to recommend new regulations that would allow construction of wind turbines up to 150 feet tall. The draft regulations would also allow for some commercial wind farms.
At present, Talbot has no regulations that deal with wind turbines. That means anyone installing one would have to adhere to the 40-foot height limit that applies to all new buildings in the county. Wind turbines are not cost-effective at that height because they can't produce enough energy.
