Court Papers: Girls' Bodies Showed Signs Of Abuse

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) ―

Court documents state that the bodies of two girls found in a freezer showed signs of abuse before their deaths.

Ron Matz reports documents filed in Montgomery County circuit court Wednesday state that one girl suffered broken bones in her hand and arms and the other girl's body showed lacerations on her scalp.

The documents written to support murder and child abuse charges against Renee Bowman state that the girls' surviving sister told detectives that Bowman beat and choked them and kept them locked in their room.

Bowman, who adopted the girls in the District, is accused of killing the two girls in Montgomery, and then moving, with them in the freezer, to Calvert County. The medical examiner determined that the girls died of asphyxiation.
