Abuse Trial Of Accused Freezer Mom Won't Move

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (AP) ― A mother accused of killing two adopted daughters and storing their bodies in her freezer told investigators at first that the girls were living with a relative in Virginia.

Sgt. Ronald Naughton of the Calvert sheriff's office described his interview with Renee Bowman at a motions hearing Friday.

Naughton said the accused mother soon changed her story, saying one of the girls died two years earlier after refusing to eat. He did not say what happened to the other.

The judge ruled Bowman's statements would be admissible in an attempted murder case against her for the abuse of a third adopted daughter. Abuse allegations involving the surviving daughter prompted a probe that led investigators to find the bodies of the two girls in Bowman's Calvert County home.
