Winter Storm Hits Maryland, Part 3
|
The Public Service Commission has approved an application to build a 50-megawatt wind energy farm atop Backbone Mountain near Oakland in Garrett County.
The commission approved the application by Synergics Wind Energy on Wednesday. The project will be built on a three-mile site on the mountain, about 14 miles south of Oakland.
Synergics must file a new road plan with Garrett County.
Homeowners who live near the site of proposed wind farm had complained to utility regulators, saying the impact on their safety had not been adequately considered.
