Two teens were found lying on the light rail tracks in Baltimore County and now both of them are dead. Family and friends are learning that the two boys may not have been hit by a train Tuesday morning. At this point it is really a mystery to the MTA and Baltimore County Police.
Mary Bubala reports the family told Eyewitness News that two key pieces of evidence is missing. The boy's bikes that they were riding when they left their home on Sunday are missing.
The facts in the deaths of two teens on the light rail tracks don't add up for many people.
"I feel like it was foul play and somebody dropped them off back there," said Rob Cunningham.
Now the families of the two boys tells Eyewitness News they want answers.
Seventeen-year-olds Kyle Wankmiller and Connor Peterson lived together like stepbrothers in Lutherville.
The family said they left the house together Sunday afternoon on their bikes. A few hours later, their bodies were found on the southbound light rail tracks near their house.
Both teens have died, but they weren't necessarily hit by the train.
"It's a very difficult situation because they were found lying inside of the tracks. And so, generally, when someone is struck by a train, they're knocked to the side of whatever else. So we're still trying to understand the circumstances that got them in the middle of the tracks there," said MTA Spokesperson Jo Greene.
In a statement, Connor's sister says, "we love them. We hope someone will come forward so the family can have closure."
Meantime, the MTA is investigating, checking trains for damage, as investigators search for the teens' missing bikes.
"It's something I wouldn't think would happen. You hear about stuff like that, but it doesn't happen too often," said Larry Jones.
The family says it's possible someone could have placed the boys on the tracks, so they'd get hit.
The family says it looks like the boys had been badly beaten and not hit by a train.
