Towson Teen Indicted In Mother's Fatal Beating

TOWSON, Md. (AP) ―

A Baltimore County grand jury has indicted a 16-year-old Towson area boy in the murder of his mother and the attempted murder of his father.

Police say Lewin Powell admitted to the fatal beating of his mother, Donna Campbell-Powell, after an argument over his grades.

Investigators said he used a bat in the attack and used the same bat to attack his father the next morning.

Powell is a sophomore at McDonogh School in Owings Mills and is charged as an adult. He has been in custody since his arrest May 13.
