"I just watched the segment on the news about Jessie and was compelled to write something. Through my own personal experience with my now 7-year-old daughter, I know how agonizing this is for your family. My daughter, right before her second birthday, faced the threat of lymphoma. What's so ironic about this is, the day before I felt the lump under her jawline, I was distraught about losing a job. When doctors told me, I did the best I could to control my emotions for my baby's sake, but when I got outside of UMMS, it was like my breath completely left my lungs, and all that emotion just poured out. Although the outcome for my baby was good and there was no cancer, the emotion, the sheer helplessness, that feeling of wanting to take that pain for your child instead of her, I know it all too well.
