Hearing Resumes In Juvenile School Death Case

WESTMINSTER (AP) ― A court hearing is scheduled to resume Friday in Westminster in the case of six counselors charged with reckless endangerment in last January's death of a Baltimore teenager at a private reform school.

Defense attorneys are seeking to suppress statements the counselors gave to investigators soon after the death of 17-year-old Isaiah Simmons. At issue is whether the statements were freely given.

Simmons died at Bowling Brook Preparatory School after being restrained by staff members. The school closed in March.

Three of the counselors are scheduled to go on trial in February and the other three in May.
