Police in Howard County have arrested three people in connection with vandalism in one Howard County neighborhood.
Kai Jackson reports drive ways, stops signs and even the side of houses in a Ellicott City neighborhood were defaced, with racist and hate-filled graffiti.
"Well I noticed when I was putting my kids on the bus one day that someone had painted a swastika behind the entrance sign. It was done in black spray paint, and after that there have been a few more instances of graffiti," says Marc Hinton a resident.
Police say for the second time in a week, residents woke up to find their property and the neighborhood, tarnished with graffiti.
"Anytime there is graffiti that appears to be racially motivated, it is really the most upsetting thing to the people who live in a given community. In this particular case we know how upsetting that is, but at this point it doesn't appear that anyone was specifically targeted for their race or religion," says Sherry Llewellyn, a Howard County police spokeswoman.
The lack of information about why the vandals targeted their community left many still concerned.
Residents still have to clean up the messages the vandals left behind.
"It's just upsetting that someone would come here night after night to where we live and write unpleasant things," said Lori Gilbert, another resident.
The suspects arrested in the case include three males, two 17-year-olds and one 15-year-old all from Ellicott City.
They are charged with destruction of property.
There is no word yet on a motive in the case.
