Winter Storm Hits Maryland, Part 3
|
Police in Hagerstown are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found in the passenger seat of a car that crashed through a fence around a softball field at a city park.
Police told The (Hagerstown) Herald-Mail that the driver of the Mitsubishi Eclipse fled after the crash around 2 a.m. Sunday at Fairgrounds Park.
A park visitor reported the overturned vehicle at around 6:30 a.m.
Police say the passenger, Glenda Kay Clements, 54, of Hagerstown, was wearing her seat belt.
They say the car apparently became airborne after striking a curb at a high rate of speed. It also took out a sign and damaged a small tree before hitting the chain-link fence.
