The crimes in Frederick make you think of Bonnie and Clyde, a couple working as a pair robbing banks.
Suzanne Collins reports, the gun wasn't real, and the crime spree didn't last long before they were caught.
A bank surveillance photo of a man police say is Carlos Williams robbing a Frederick County bank, holding what police now believe was a bb gun to the tellers head.
His girlfriend Denise Smith has also been charged as his cohort in bank robberies outside Frederick.
"The female accomplice then approached the teller next to them and also demanded and received money," says Detective Sgt. Robert Myers, of Maryland State Police.
After just two bank holdups the couple is in the County Detention Center, and it could be because Williams made it easy for police, leaving behind his wallet and his cell phone.
"On occasion you get a little bit of help," adds Myers.
The latest armed robbery Tuesday at PNC Bank upset the quiet of the village of Libertytown.
A woman who frequents that bank says the tellers must be relieved about the arrests.
"I have chosen not to talk to them about it because I know they were very distraught and I felt horrible for them," says Bonnie Rush, a bank patron.
The personal identification was left behind at the first robbery May 22nd at Sovereign Bank in Buckeystown.
"He deserved it. He deserved to be caught how stupid is that," adds Rush.
"With that information they obtained an arrest warrant for him, and attempted to locate him, but he was at none of the prior addresses," says Detective Sgt. Myers.
In both armed robberies the same method was used, the couple came in and began a fake argument, perhaps to scope out the place, and then the man went up and put a gun to the tellers head and demanded money.
After this week's robbery, good police work led to the identity of the woman, Denise Smith. Police say she led them to Williams at a home in Prince George's County, Thursday where he was arrested. Hundreds of dollars and a bb gun were recovered.
Denise Smith is being held on $150,000 bail, and Williams has been denied bail.
