Nancy Pelosi Brings Her New Book To Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Baltimore's Nancy Pelosi is the most powerful woman in Washington.

Richard Sher reports in her new book, "Know Your Power,  A Message To America's Daughters," the 68-year-old speaker of the House of Representatives urges all women to know that, "things start small, but if you work hard, they get bigger and bigger."

Even though her father, Thomas D'Alesandro Jr., was Baltimore's mayor for 12 years, and her older brother Tommy III was also mayor, Speaker Pelosi tells Richard Sher, "People think my father was the biggest influence in my life, but it was actually my beautiful mother. Parents  know that the girls in their families can accomplish anything they set out to do."

Speaking of assertive women, such as Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin,  Pelosi said, "She's an articulate spokesperson for her issues. I have to say that I do not agree with Sarah Palin's positions on any of the issues."

"Nancy's a piece of American history. You can be sure she's not done," said former Baltimore mayor Tommy D'Alesandro III.

Speaker Pelosi will be at the main branch of the Enoch Pratt Library Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. to talk about her new book.  It is open to the public.
