City police are investigating two stabbings at Baltimore's Inner Harbor that place Saturday evening.
A beautiful sunny weekend set the scene for violence at the Inner Harbor.
Kai Jackson reports the stabbing of two teens drove tourists away from the waterfront.
Police say they have charged two teenaged suspects for stabbing two teenaged victims, and all the chaos erupted in a packed harbor.
Tourists at Baltimore's Inner Harbor are still harboring fear after back-to-back stabbings happened Saturday night.
The first happened in the 200-block of Pratt St.; the other one on Calvert St.
Both have created a questionable image of the city's main attraction.
"It is very upsetting to hear something like that happened here," said one resident.
"It seems incongruous, but I guess violence can happen anywhere. There's nowhere that's completely safe," said another.
Police say the same group of teenagers are responsible for the stabbings. Their victims were also teens, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male.
Now police have charged Christopher Johnson, 16, and Steven Stigall, 18, with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of second-degree attempted murder each.
A third suspect is still at large.
"What we saw down there was a lot of unsupervised youth. We saw a lot of kids that were like 13 to 16 that were not accompanied with an adult that were kind of moving within large groups," said Col. John Skinner, Baltimore City Police.
Police say after the first stabbing, surveillance cameras caught the same group of teens walking to the scene of the second stabbing.
They say once they came across the next victim, they asked him if he was in a gang. When he said no, they then attacked.
"We, on the police side, did not see a tremendous amount of gang activity. We didn't see kids that were wearing colors. We didn't see kids that were flashing gang signs," said Skinner.
While police do not believe the incidents were gang related, the department is adding manpower to the harbor, especially in anticipation of the summer season ahead.
Both suspects are being held at Central Booking on no bail.
The victims are recovering at the hospital in good condition.
Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing on Saturday night to come forward immediately to help track down the third suspect.
