Baltimore County could become the latest Maryland jurisdiction to prohibit the use of tanning facilities by minors.
The county council will consider the ban Monday night.
Last week, the Howard County Board of Health voted unanimously to ban people under age 18 from using indoor tanning devices.
The bill in Baltimore County would establish a $500 fine or 90 days in jail for violations.
Dr. Gregory W. Branch, county health officer, says a ban on tanning for minors will send a message about how big a health risk tanning is.
