235 H1N1 Flu Cases Confirmed In N.J.

Health officials have now confirmed 235 cases of swine flu in New Jersey and 113 probable cases.
Monmouth County has the most — 29 confirmed cases — followed by 27 in Essex and Morris counties and 26 in Bergen County. Meanwhile, no cases have been confirmed in the southern Jersey counties of Cape May, Gloucester and Salem.
No one has died from swine flu in New Jersey.
The World Health Organization has declared swine flu to be a pandemic — a global epidemic. It says the disease has reached 74 countries and infected nearly 30,000 people, and there have been at least 145 deaths.
The New York City Health Department said most of the patients hospitalized with swine flu belonged to groups that had a higher risk of severe illness or complications from influenza, including:

People who are over 65, under age 2, or pregnant
- People with chronic lung problems, such as asthma or emphysema
- People with chronic heart, kidney, liver or blood disorders
- People with neurological disorders that can cause breathing problems
- People with diabetes
- People whose immune systems are weakened due to illness or medication
- People under 18 years who are on long-term aspirin therapy.
