Two students have been found to have drug-resistant staph infections in Charles County as the number of such cases grows across the region.
The two students attend schools in La Plata. School officials say they are waiting for lab results to confirm the diagnosis.
The methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, infection has been blamed for the death of a Virginia teenager earlier this month.
More than 50 cases of MRSA have been reported in the Washington area. The latest cases are the first reported in Charles County.
