Renowned Pizza Parlor To Move Closer To UMD

ADELPHI, Md. (AP) ― A Maryland pizza parlor famous for its square pies is moving to a new location after 55 years.

Ledo Restaurant will vacate its original location in Adelphi next year and move to College Park.

Owners Jimmy Marcos and Tommy Marcos Jr. say the opportunity to move within walking distance of the University of Maryland is too good to pass up. He says the relocation will secure Ledo's future "for another 50 years."

Ledo opened in 1955. Sports legends including Yogi Berra, Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath were known to visit during its heyday in the 1960s and 1970s.

The restaurant spawned a franchise known as Ledo Pizza, but the Marcos family is no longer affiliated with the franchise.
