'New Moon' Makes Box Office History

The studio behind 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon' tells ET that the eagerly awaited vampire sequel sank its fangs into the most profitable, single opening-day ever. Read on to find out what movie it topped!

Summit Entertainment estimates that on Friday, ‘New Moon’ raked in $72.7 million in North America, surpassing ‘The Dark Knight’’s debut ($62.2 million).

‘New Moon’ also notched the best gross for midnight shows ever at $26.3 million.
