Catholic U. To Install Solar Panels On Campus
WASHINGTON (AP) ―
Catholic University plans to have more than 1,000 solar panels installed on four buildings at the school to create the largest solar energy system in the Washington area.
Officials said Wednesday that the university signed a 20-year deal with Washington Gas Energy Services, which will own the system. It will be installed at no cost to the university.
More than 1,000 solar panels will be installed on the roofs of four buildingsĀ in November. The system is expected to produce 340,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, or nearly 1 percent of the school's energy needs. The power will be used in the buildings where the panels are installed.
