Tree Planting In Neighborhoods Can Save Energy

  Link To Marylanders Plant Trees

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― TheĀ fall planting season is underway and landscaping now will set you up for cool summers down the road.

Mary Bubala reportsĀ a well placed tree can save up to 25 percent of the energy a typical household uses.

Research shows that air temperatures can be 3 to 6 percent cooler in a tree- shaded neighborhood.

The state of Maryland has launched a major tree planting initiative this month. The initiative offers $25 coupons toward the purchase of a native tree costing more than $50.
