Save Energy By Checking Stove Flames

BALTIMORE (WJZ) ―

There's a way to save energy when you make dinner.

Mary Bubala
reports if you own a natural gas stove make sure you see blue flames.

Yellow flames indicate the gas is burning inefficiently and clearly wasting energy. An adjustment then needs to be made. The best thing to do is call BGE.

If your stove is old and you need to purchase a natural gas oven or range, look for one with an automatic, electric ignition system. It will save natural gas because a pilot light is not burning continuously.
