Reporters
Weijia Jiang
Weijia joined the WJZ News Team in June 2008 as a general assignment reporter.
She comes to Charm City from Maryland's Eastern Shore where she worked as a general assignment reporter for WBOC in Salisbury. During her time there, Weijia was honored with regional Edward R. Murrow and Associated Press awards for feature reporting.
Her love for broadcasting began growing at a young age when she watched newscasts with her father, imitating anchors in the mirror with a hairbrush in hand. But as she studied philosophy and chemistry at The College of William and Mary, it seemed unlikely Weijia would end up in the TV business. So after college she packed up and headed to Syracuse, N.Y. where she earned a M.S. in Broadcast Journalism from The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. While there, Weijia was a teaching assistant to the Dean for Communications Law.
She gained other hands-on experience as an intern at WSYR and a D.C. correspondant for WYOU. Weijia is a member of AAJA.
Weijia was born in Xiamen, China. At the age of two she immigrated with her parents to West Virginia where she grew up. She loves to visit both places as often as possible, but is happy to call Baltimore her new home.
