Kelly McPherson
Kelly joined the WJZ team as a reporter in April 2008.
She comes to Baltimore from WSYR in Syracuse, NY. While in Central New York, Kelly became the go-to reporter in her newsroom by uncovering a computer grade changing scandal at a local high school, pressuring the CPSC on lead toy issues and enduring the record-breaking snowfall in Oswego County. In 2007, Kelly was honored by the Syracuse Press Club for her "One Day Getaways" series in the feature category.
Prior to Syracuse, Kelly "one-man-banded" in Binghamton, NY at WIVT. She covered the federal trial of the St. Pats Four protestors and traveled to the Gulf Coast to report on local volunteers working with Katrina evacuees.
She's a member of IRE/NICAR and has been recognized by the New York State Associated Press. Kelly graduated with honors from Ithaca College majoring in journalism, with minors in politics and Spanish, on a full academic scholarship .
A New Jersey native, Kelly is looking forward to getting to know the people of Baltimore.
