Father & Son Celebrate Army/Navy Game

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) ― Great football rivalries like this weekend's Army/Navy game may be a tradition, but mix in a family's history and that game takes on a deeper meaning.

Alex DeMetrick found one such family at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

There are plenty of wind sprints and practices going on at the U.S. Naval Academy, as the big game with Army approaches.

Greg Zingler, a 1983 Naval Academy graduate, won't be alone in the stands when his son Greg Jr. suits up.

Greg Zingler Jr. is a sophomore.

"I'm the scout quarterback. That means I'm getting the defense ready. I'm running the offense of the opponents every week," said Zingler Jr., USNA ,midshipman.

Across campus, basketball practice is about to start at Alumni Hall.

Less than 24 hours ago, there was no court.  Instead 700 journalists were covering the Mideast peace talks.

Greg Zingler's civilian job as facility's director is to make those kind of fast turnarounds look easy.

His time as a midshipman helped prepare him.

While Zingler Jr. might not get a chance to play this year when Navy runs into Ravens Stadium, he will be running with them.

Although he still has two-and-a-half years to go, midshipman Greg Zingler hopes to become a Marine Corps fighter pilot.
